Tajay Gayle sets indoor long jump PB
Tajay Gayle has signalled that he might be over his recent injuries after he set a new lifetime best 8.13m to place second in the men’s long jump at the Birmingham World Indoor Tour final in Great Britain on Saturday.
The national record holder in the outdoor long jump and world champion in 2019 improved on his previous best of 8.10m that he set at the same venue in 2019.
World Championship 200m gold medalist Shericka Jackson, who said prior to the meet that her focus was on the outdoors, was fourth in the women’s 60m in 7.18 seconds, just ahead of compatriot Natasha Morrison who was fifth in 7.24 seconds.
Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith, who lowered her national record to 7.03 seconds in the heats, won in 7.05 seconds, with Daryl Neita second in 7.13 seconds.
In the semi-finals, Jackson had run 7.23 seconds for second while Morrison was fifth in her semi-final in 7.29m.
