Thompson-Herah wins 60m in Norway
Double Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah claimed victory in the women’s 60m at the Karsten Warholm Invitational in Ulsteinsvik, Norway on Thursday.
Thompson-Herah took her time to get into the race before taking the lead at about 40 metres and running away to a comfortable victory.
Norway’s Helene Ronningen who led most of the race was second in 7.40 seconds and Victoria Ratnikova of Ukraine was third in 7.53 seconds.
The fastest woman alive over the 100m said that she is content with her performance and that she is happy that she crossed the line in good health.
“It was a good one. I’m new to this surface, you know I tried to get a shake out yesterday to get the feel of it, but I’m grateful I crossed the line healthy,” she said. “It’s an amazing feeling to be among these youngsters. You know, they look up to me and want to be like me one day, so I’m just grateful to compete with them.
This is the four-time Diamond league champion’s second win of the season, having won her season opener at last weekend’s Queen Grace Jackson Invitational with a 7.15 seconds clocking.
