Tivoli woman in funeral procession allegedly caught with illegal gun
A woman has been charged in relation to the seizure of an illegal firearm and 40 rounds of ammunition during an operation on Dee Cee Avenue, Tivoli Gardens in Kingston on Sunday, January 29.
Charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition is 32-year-old Jody-Ann Lawes of Zacky Avenue, Tivoli Gardens in the parish.
Reports from the Denham Town police are that about 5:15 pm, lawmen were in the area when they saw Lawes among a group of mourners in a funeral procession.
Her actions aroused their suspicion, and she was accosted, searched and one Stoeger Cougar pistol containing ten .40 rounds were seen in a bag she was carrying.
Upon closer examination of the bag, another thirty-one .40 rounds of ammunition were found.
She was charged following a question and answer session in the presence of her attorney.
