UPDATE: Foreigners detained in Mandeville for immigration violations
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — Head of the Manchester police, Superintendent Shane McCalla says 13 foreign nationals were on Thursday taken into custody in Mandeville for overstaying in the country.
McCalla gave the update while clarifying earlier reports of a police probe into an alleged human trafficking ring following two raids on Thursday morning.

He told OBSERVER ONLINE that the Counter Terrorism and Organised Crime Branch (CTOC) and the Passport Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA) assisted the Mandeville police in detaining foreign nationals for overstaying in Jamaica.
“We conducted a joint operation with PICA and CTOC. Where the foreign nationals Indian decent were picked for breaching immigration status by over staying in the country. Our investigations reveal no links to human trafficking,” he said.
He said 13 foreign nationals were “picked up” in the predawn operation in Balvenie on the outskirts of Mandeville.
