#WorldChamps: Ricketts takes silver medal in Triple Jump
EUGENE, Oregon – Shanieka Ricketts has once again delivered on the global stage after capturing the silver medal in the final of the women’s triple jump in the World Championships at the Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
Ricketts, who leaped to a season’s best 14.89 metres, which was then a world leading jump, claimed Jamaica’s fourth medal at the championships. This is Ricketts’ second World Championships silver medal after finishing on the podium at the 2019 Championships in Doha, Qatar.
Meanwhile, her fellow countrywomen, Kimberly Williams, and Ackelia Smith, missed out on a podium finish. Williams recorded a best leap of 14.29 metres for seventh, while Smith had to settle for twelfth with 13.90 metres.
The event was won by the world record holder, Yulimar Rojas, of Venezuela in an impressive world leading jump of 15.47 metres, while Tori Franklin of the United States captured the bronze medal with a season’s best jump of 14.72 metres.
