Clarendon residents protest shooting of teensSunday, June 13, 2021
CLARENDON, Jamaica — From as early as 5:00 am today residents of Lionel Town blocked the road leading to the community's police station to protest last night's shooting that left at least one teenager dead.
Unconfirmed reports are that the fatalities could be as high as three.
According to OBSERVER ONLINE sources, a group of teenagers were headed home, after curfew hours, after attending a party. The driver of the vehicle disobeyed a police signal to stop, it is said, as the driver was not licensed. Sources told OBSERVER ONLINE the police fired on the vehicle.
Up to late Saturday night, family members of those in the car and other area residents were at the Lionel Town Community Hospital hoping to get word about their loved ones.
