Flash flood watch in effect for north-central, western parishesTuesday, January 29, 2019
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Meteorological (Met) Service of Jamaica has issued a flash flood watch for low-lying and flood-prone areas of Westmoreland, Hanover, St James, Trelawny and St Ann.
The Met Service said that the watch will be in effective until 5:00 am tomorrow, Wednesday, January 30 and was issued following the formation of a stationary front within the vicinity of the island.
Satellite imagery and rainfall data indicate that moderate and at times heavy showers have been affecting sections of these parishes throughout today.
The forecast is for periods of showers, which could be heavy at times, to continue across the island tonight and into tomorrow.
A flash flood watch means that flash flooding is possible and residents are advised to take precautionary measures and be ready for quick action if flooding is observed or if a Warning is issued.
