Portland JSX up more than 15% to lead gainsThursday, June 24, 2021
Several stocks recorded double digit gains during trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Thursday.
Portland JSX Limited was the biggest winner, rising 15.64 per cent in value to close at $8.80 per unit.
Other stocks making double digit gains were CAC 2000 Limited which climbed 14.97 per cent to close at $10.52; Jetcon Corporation which rose 14.73 per cent to close $1.48; and Access Financial Services which moved 13.04 per cent to close at $22.71.
Palace Amusement clawed back 10.29 per cent of value to close at $1,174.15 after losses earlier in the week, and Eppley Limited saw value buttress 12.9 per cent to close at $42.64 per share.
Stocks declining the most in Thursday's trading included JMMB GROUP 7.25 per cent VR JMD CR preference shares which slid 26.67 per cent to close at $1.10. Others were Mayberry investments which declined 7.98 per cent to close at $5.65; Paramount Trading (Jamaica) Limited) which slid 7.26 per cent to close at $1.15 and Sterling Investments Limited which declined 5.67 per cent to close at $2.83.
In Thursday's trading session, the JSE Market activity resulted in the trading of 94 stocks of which 45 advanced, 38 declined and 11 traded firm.
The Jamaican dollar market volume (excluding blocks) amounted to 17,305,788 units valued at $131,410,240.86.
The US dollar market volume (excluding blocks) amounted to 165,898 units valued at $10,920.45.
Volume leaders in Thursdays trading were Dolphin Cove Limited with 1,588,684 units, amounting to 9.18 per cent of the market volume; Mailpac Group Limited with 1,539,082 units, amounted to 8.89 per cent of the market volume and Jamaican Teas Limited with 1,399,557 units, amounted to 8.09 per cent of the market volume.
