Calabar guidance counsellor condemns past student's killingSaturday, June 12, 2021
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Reverend Stephen Smith, guidance counsellor at Calabar High School has condemned the killing of 23-year-old Kamari Miles, a call centre manager.
"It speaks to the level of crime and violence plaguing the nation. I want to use this opportunity to appeal to our young men and men out there. I ask you, I plead with you, cease the violence and the killing. It is senseless. Begin to value the life of another individual," Smith told OBSERVER ONLINE.
"It is because we don't value each other's lives we do something like this. It's a painful thing. I'm just picturing Miles right now. He went onto sixth form. It speaks to the fact that he's a brilliant young man with a brilliant mind," he said of the past student.
Reports from the Hunts Bay Police are that about 8:10 pm Friday, Miles was found in a pool of blood at his home in Duhaney Park, St Andrew, after residents reportedly heard him screaming out for help, followed by loud explosions.
