Grand Gala was money well spent
Dear Editor,
I had the privilege of attending the Grand Gala celebrations at the National Stadium commemorating Jamaica’s 60th anniversary of Independence.
For the first time in recent years of attending these galas I found it thoroughly enjoyable throughout. Perfect, no, but I have no quarrel with any flaws I may have wondered about. The production was clearly well thought out and very well executed.
The backing band was excellent, as was the emceeing and event coordination. The involvement of the many Jamaicans in field performances was pleasurable and inspiring.
The 300-drone show was one of the highlights of the evening as it generated national warmth, appreciation, and joy in all who were present to witness it live. Similarly, the inclusion of a gospel segment was a good decision, fully appreciated by the crowd. Of course, the military demonstration was, as usual, well executed and well received.
It was good to see the stadium nearly at capacity, reminiscent of the night of August 5-6, 1962.
I am firmly of the view that every penny spent on the Jamaica’s 60th anniversary Grand Gala 2022 was money well spent.
