Kudos to Constant Spring Tax Office
Dear Editor,
Berating the quality of service offered at government offices is a national pastime.
I had to do a transaction at the Constant Spring Tax Office earlier this week. I had difficulty finding an empty parking space which suggested that the office was crowded and I would be in for a long wait.
I entered the building, was issued a ticket, and took a seat. Although it was not as crowded as I had feared, there was still a large number of people waiting to be served. I counted 30 cashiers’ stations but only half of them were manned and this reinforced my fears. I noticed, however, that ticket numbers were being called electronically and posted on the overhead screen fairly briskly, with directions as to which station to attend.
After waiting for only 10 minutes my number was called. It took less than five minutes at the cashier’s window for me to complete the transaction. Within 15 minutes of entering the building I was done and on my way. I was impressed.
If only this was typical of all government offices! What it shows is that it can be done.
