Ode to Garfield Sobers
Garfield Sobers

Dear Editor,

All cricket lovers in cricket-playing countries unfortunately missed out on enjoying the West Indies' One-Day International (ODI) team in the ongoing ODI World Cup (2023) championship.

However, as far as the Indian cricket fans are concerned, we enjoyed a video of the legendary all-rounder and a diamond of West Indies cricket Sir Garfield Sobers.

Sobers had visited the touring Indian cricket team at a practice session in Barbados, and he, along with his wife, met Indian players like skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shubhaman Gill, Shardul Thakur, Ajinkya Rahane, and Coach Rahul Dravid as well. He was all praise for the Indian squad and said Caribbean people always feel good whenever the Indian team tours the West Indies.

Sobers was nostalgic in remembering former Indian cricketers Farokh Engineer and Bishan Singh Bedi, who passed away just recently.

Sobers is not just the greatest-ever all-rounder, but he is great by heart as well.
