VOWS: Affairs of the Heart
A decade of growth, bickering, change, distance, friendship, and finally love.
Entrepreneurs Horita Grant and Chavin Williams tied the knot on Saturday, January 21 at Vintage Gardens, St Catherine.
The two grew up in the same community — Old Harbour, St Catherine — but had never actually met. All this would change in 2012 when they were both travelling in the same taxi. Come time for her to exit, Chavin offered to assist her with her igloo of fish. “I thought, wow! There are still gentlemen in this world,” related Horita to Tuesday Style Vows. “That was the end of that, I thought, until months later, having sought me out, he asked for my number.
“Knowing that only a handful of people knew my number, I challenged him to get it and call me. He would then, I explained, have a chance.”
Chavin not only accepted the challenge but managed to get her number. Regular conversations led to a solid friendship and eventually the start of a courtship that led to a proposal of marriage.
The ceremony
The exchange of vows took place on the lawns of Vintage Garden, St Catherine, where the couple received the additional blessing of light showers.
Making her way to her bridegroom to the strains of Ed Sheeran’s Perfect was Horita, in a deep champagne off-the-shoulder ballgown with exquisite pearl and lace details and a 2m long train from Luxbrides JA. Her bouquet comprised pink roses and carnations, and she was escorted by both her father Clinton Bailey and her son Nathanael Jarrett.
The proceedings were officiated by Reverend Christopher Stennett.
Let the celebration begin!
Damian “Jr Gong” Marley’s Affairs of the Heart signalled the arrival of the entire bridal party to the reception area immediately after.
Handling the formalities was Pastor Christopher Dawkins, who invited the newly-weds to the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife to Popcaan’s Through The Storm. Dinner, which was catered by Junior Osbourne/@juniors.gourmet, ahead of heartfelt speeches, the unveiling and cutting of the cake, and post-reception celebrations including the tossing of the bouquet and the removal of garter.
A honeymoon is scheduled for a later date.
