'A job well done'
Jack’s Hill residents praise firefighters for response to threatening blazeFriday, May 01, 2015
RESIDENTS of Jack's Hill, St Andrew, have commended firefighters for their quick action in extinguishing a fire that destroyed several acres of crops and threatened homes late Wednesday into early yesterday.
Emelio Ebanks, public relations director at the Jamaica Fire Brigade, said that a call was received at approximately 4:56 pm on Wednesday and several units
were dispatched to the area.
Yesterday, residents were thankful for the quick response.
"At one point when mi see the fire a come close to the area where mi live, all I could do was just sit and pray," shared Raymond Rose, who lives on Skyline Drive where the fired started.
"Mi really happy to see that things are now under control. Last night when I saw the fire I got so nervous, I started to pray," added Ronald Whyte.
"Things could have been worse and I want to commend the firefighters for a job well done," said another resident.
The residents said Wednesday's fire is the first to have occurred in the area since the massive bush fire that burned for days last year.
"We are, however, hoping that it's the first and the last," on resident remarked.
