St Mary barber gets gifted with trip to Antigua from DigicelSunday, December 04, 2016
A 23-year-old barber from Hopewell, St Mary, is the first weekly winner in Digicel’s #GetGifted Christmas promotion.
After consistently activating a Digicel data plan on his smartphone every few days, Morko Nugent’s entries in the promotion won him the top weekly prize — an all-expense paid week in Antigua, all courtesy of the telecoms giant.
"Boy, I went to Digicel to collect a prize but I had no idea it would be this amazing," a Digicel release quoted a delighted Nugent. "I was even feeling some pains in my foot, but that’s all forgotten now. I’m going on vacation in Antigua, thanks to Digicel, and I can’t wait."
He added: "I’ve never travelled before, but my mom used to visit Antigua all the time and she told me a lot about it. So, I’m very excited for the opportunity to be going to experience it all for myself now."
Annalise Harewood, head of recharge and distribution at Digicel, said, "We’re so happy for Morko and we wish him all the best on his trip to Antigua. We’re giving as many of our customers a chance to get gifted by Digicel this Christmas, so we encourage them to keep topping up, putting on their data plans so that they can give themselves a chance to win an all-expense paid vacation like Morko, or one of our other great gifts."
The Christmas promotion, which started on November 18, will see five more weekly winners of an all-expense paid five-day trip for two to Grenada, St Lucia, Turks and Caicos, St Maarten or Panama, in addition to US$1,000 spending money, a DL 1 Plus smartphone and $5,000 credit.
The promotion will culminate on December 31 with the grand prize of a seven-day cruise to the Cayman Islands, Honduras, Belize and Mexico, plus US$1,000 spending money, a DL1 Plus smartphone and $5,000 credit.
Digicel explained that to qualify, customers can top up with $200 or more, activate a three-day data plan or higher, pay their 4G broadband or Digicel Play bill on time and in full, talk for 10 minutes or more on their postpaid phone or sign up for a Digicel Play package. Any purchase of a phone or SIM card also gives customers a chance to win.
