UPS Foundation donates to Stella Maris FoundationThursday, October 26, 2017
Stella Maris Foundation yesterday received a US$25,000 grant from UPS Foundation to help young people from underserved communities to acquire skills that will make them employable as well as enhance their entrepreneurial capabilities towards self-employment.
The grant, presented at Spanish Court hotel's Valencia, will also be used to purchase furnishings, equipment, and learning tools for infants and toddlers at the Norma Chang Day Care Centre.
Beverly Lopez, chair of the Stella Maris Foundation, thanked UPS for the donation, saying it will go a far way in helping to improve the quality of life of the residents of the Grants Pen community.
Established in 1951, the UPS Foundation leads UPS' global citizenship efforts and philanthropy, according to information posted on the foundation's website.
“Our mission is to help build stronger, safer, and more resilient communities around the world. The UPS Foundation's philanthropic approach centres on four focus areas that reflect our mission and UPS's corporate values and expertise: diversity and inclusion, environmental sustainability, community safety, and volunteerism. We believe that our approach and investment strategy create shared value for our community, our people and our company,” the post states.
