Jamaican jockey Javour Simpson brings home five at Fairmount ParkFriday, June 14, 2019
JAMAICAN jockey Javour Simpson was in the best form of his career when he rode a brilliant five-timer from six rides on the seven-race programme at the Fairmount Park Racetrack in Collinsville, Illinois, United States on Tuesday, June 11.
Simpson opened the programme aboard Tabaddo in a claiming race over one mile and 70 yards. Trained by Walter Johnson, Tabaddo, who had to settle at the back for most of the way, progressed well approaching the home bend and powered past horses with 70 yards out to win by 1½ length over Sircorri (Javier Diego) in a time of 1:46.49.
His second winner came in the very next race, a maiden claiming event over 6 furlongs aboard the James Childes-trained Filly From Lily. They won by 1 ¼ length over Ghaaleb's Heir (Reynier Arrieta), with the winning time being 1:15.82.
Simpson then celebrated his triple atop Praisem in the fourth race, which was another six furlongs event. Praisem, trained by Eddis Essenpreis won the Allowance Optional Claiming event by 1 ½ length ahead of Ghost Train (Juan Molina Jr). The time posted by Parisem was 1:13.72.
Simpson's fourth came in the fifth race when he steered Run Away Gal to a 2 ½-length win in the claiming event again over six furlongs, coming from well off the pace. The Levy Lynch trainee won ahead of Klondike Annie (Alvin Oritz) in a time of 1:14.38.
The cap came in the next race as Simpson guided the John Cox-trained Midnight Las Vegas to victory in the Allowance Optional Claiming event over 6 furlongs. Midnight Las Vegas won by 2 ¼ lengths over Hide the Green (Reynier Arrieta) in a time of 1:12.37.
With those winners, Simpson took his tally to 15 wins which placed him in joint second place with Victor Santiago behind leader Juan Molina Jr, who leads on 21 winners.
The championship ends on September 14, 2019.
