Blue Vinyl headlines competitive field in Poorlittlerichgirl Trophy run
BLUE Vinyl, last year’s double Classic winner, runs for the second time in six days as he headlines a very competitive field of nine runners for the $1.4-million Poorlittlerichgirl Trophy, the main attraction on today’s nine-race card at Caymanas Park.
The Alford Brown-conditioned Blue Vinyl raced on Sunday, September 10 in the Kenneth Mattis OD Memorial Trophy feature, and easily won the nine-furlong, 25-yard (1,820m) event by 3¼ lengths in a smooth time of 1:57.0.
Blue Vinyl‘s rapid recovery implies that the chestnut colt is in fantastic shape and primed for a swift double, but he confronts some quality challengers who are also in good shape.
Is That A Fact, Further and Beyond, Perfect Brew, and Jordon Reign’s are also present in this contest, making this race an interesting and entertaining event.
The three-year-old and upward Open Allowance contest over seven furlongs (1,400m) is positioned as the eighth event on the card with a post time of 4:45 pm. First post is at 11:45 am.
Blue Vinyl‘s Kenneth Mattis OD Memorial Trophy win was at the Overnight Allowance level but he is still as effective in this Open Allowance class. His last run at the Open Allowance level came on May 20 when he finished fourth by some 14¼ lengths behind Runaway Algo, Calculus, and Sistren Treasure over seven and a half furlongs (1,500m).
Blue Vinyl should find this distance of the Poorlittlerichgirl ideal for him, and with his excellent form he should be able to deliver. Javaniel Patterson remains in the saddle for the fifth-consecutive time.
Is That A Fact, trained by Jason DaCosta, comes into this race off three straight victories. The three-year-old, American-bred bay colt’s most recent victory came on August 19 in the Arthur Jones Trophy, which he won by six lengths in a time 1:13.0. Is That A Fact competes over seven furlongs for the first time, and based on his previous performances he should comfortably get the distance; Is That A Fact should be back with another enjoyable run here. Leading rider Reyan Lewis will do the honours once more.
Former Horse of the Year Further and Beyond returns to competitive racing after an 83-day absence. Further and Beyond won the Hubert Bartley Memorial Trophy over seven and a half furlongs on June 25 by a length and a quarter.
Following his return from surgery, this was Further and Beyond’s second run of the season. The Donovan Hutchinson trainee moves up from the Overnight Allowance level to compete here, and should be in terrific shape. Further and Beyond should easily put these away based on back class. Bebeto Harvey will ride.
Perfect Brew has really come on well this season, having won two times, finishing second three times, and one third place finish from eight starts. Trained by Hall of Famer Richard Azan, Perfect Brew finished a length and a half in second place behind She’s My Destiny in the Reggae Trophy over the straight (1,000m) on August 12. The Bern Identity–Moonlight Brew offspring should enjoy this trip more and could find himself in the running here.
Without a doubt, Jordon Reign’s is one of the most talented runners at the track. The five-year-old, American-bred bay gelding has seven wins, two seconds, and one third from 13 starts on local soil so far. The Peter-John Parsard trainee was expected to figure in the recent Reggae Trophy on August 12 but he was unable to land a punch and finished fifth, 11 lengths behind She’s My Destiny and Perfect Brew.
That was Jordon Reign’s first run in eight months, and he may have needed it. Jordon Reign’s is more than capable of winning this trophy race and is predicted to perform admirably. Tevin Foster remains in the saddle.
Outbidder, Regal and Royal, D Head Cornerstone, and Sweet Majesty make up the rest of the field.
