Goal feast in St James FA Under-13 competition
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Twenty-six goals were scored in two St James Football Association Under-13 games played at Corinaldi Avenue Primary on Wednesday, the hosts were not in a charitable mood and flooded Somerton Primary 20-0 and Flankers Primary beat Barrett Town 6-0.
It was second win for the victors as they topped their respective zones with six points.
Two more games will be played today at the same venue, Chetwood Primary and Catherine Hall will both be on the hunt for their second wins in a row.
Chetwood Primary will face Pinnacle Academy in a Zone B game starting at 10:00 am, followed by Catherine Hall against Dumfries Primary starting at 11:15 am.
Chetwood Primary beat Irwin Primary in their opening game, while Pinnacle Academy will be playing their first game as their opening game against Buckingham was rescheduled.
Catherine Hall have scored a big 5-0 win over Somerton Primary in their first game and face a Dumfries team that will also be making their first appearance today.
There were no shortage of goals Wednesday as after being awarded points from their game against Montego Bay Prep, Corinaldi Avenue led by five goals from Mekhi Foster and four from Carlando Morris, went on a goal scoring spree and were up by eight goals at half-time.
Among the goal scorers were goalkeeper Sirhana Simpson and female player Joanna Robinson, both from the penalty spot, while Corinaldi Avenue missed a third penalty.
Foster scored in the second, 16th, 23rd, 32nd and 33rd minutes before he was withdrawn, while Morris scored in the seventh, 25th, 39th and 40th minutes.
There were also doubles for Shavaun Brown and Shanardo Whittingham while Simpson, Donovan Carey, Mahlieko Campbell, Recardo Esmie, Robinson, Jordaine Maxwell, and Rodineo Hines all got one each.
In the first game of the double-header, Flankers Primary were in cruise control against Barrett Town as Gregory Williams scored a hat-trick, while Delgado Irvin, Kimani Roberts and Tavoy Palmer all got one each.
Williams, who had scored both goals in their opening 2-0 win over 2019 champions Granville, opened the scoring in the fourth minute, also netted the 31st and 33rd minutes as Flanker led 2-0 at half-time in the 60 minutes game.
