Madelyn’s Sunshine due to flip the script
CHAMPION trainer Jason DaCosta will be hoping that his stables’ Madelyn’s Sunshine can turn her poor form around and come good in the $1.14-million Easter Sprint Cup feature race at Caymanas Park today.
Madelyn’s Sunshine is yet to win a race this season from three starts but after her encouraging workout on Saturday, April 1 there are indications the four-year-old, American-bred, dark brown/bay filly could return to winning ways.
The far-striding filly galloped five furlongs (1,000m) straight out of the starting gates in 1:01.2, with the first four furlongs (800m) coming in 46.2 seconds, beating her stablemate Luksol in the process.
Madelyn’s Sunshine has the back class to figure, and if she is anywhere near top form then this should not be a race. Reyan Lewis will do the riding honours for the first time.
The Non-Restricted Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward going five and a half furlongs (1,100m) is positioned as the 10th and final event on the card with a post time of 5:15 pm. First race is at 11:45 am.
Madelyn’s Sunshine’s stablemate Eagle One and Brinks, trained by Ian Parsard, are also capable runners that can take down this trophy race.
Eagle One, a six-year-old, American-bred, bay gelding is to be ridden by Robert Halledeen while Brinks, who is making his seasonal debut there, will see the return of Dane Dawkins to the saddle.
