Unbeaten Chapleton Maroons host Wadada in JFF tier two football
Leaders Chapleton Maroons will go in search of a fifth-straight win today when they host Wadada United FC at Turner’s Field in Chapleton, Clarendon, in the Jamaica Football Federation National Tier Two competition.
The unbeaten Chapleton have had few problems so far and could increase their lead with a win over the St James club today as second-placed Faulkland FC will not play until Sunday when they host Baptist Alliance at Wespow Park.
Treasure Beach could take over second place with a win over Portlanders FC at Lynch Park, while Downs YC, Albion Mountain and Falmouth United will all be seeking back to back wins.
Chapleton Maroons are clearly the class of the competition so far and should start favourites to beat Wadada United who are coming off back-to-back losses and are winless in their last three games.
Kaheim Dixon and Javel Ellis have combined for nine of Chapleton’s 13 goals and they are expected to lead the charge against a Wadada United team that has scored just two goals in four games and have conceded four in their last two games.
Treasure Beach have rebounded well after their opening game loss, stringing together three consecutive wins including coming from behind twice on Wednesday to beat Baptist Alliance and faces a Portlanders team that came up short in a seven goal thriller against Downs YC.
Portlanders FC have given up nine goals however and Treasure beach could exploit this with the likes of Kadeem Stone, who has scored three goals and Rohane Clarke.
Albion Mountain are coming off back to back wins and will have home ground advantage against Downs FC who are coming off a big win on Wednesday.
Albion Mountain are on six points, one more than Downs and a win for either side today could see them move into the top four spots.
Falmouth United on the last game and they will hope to build on this with a win today as they seek to rebound from a poor start and faces an inconsistent Tru Juice team at Prison Oval.
Falmouth United were expected to be among the leaders but have started slowly, losing two of their first three games before two late goals took them past Lime Hall Academy at home on Wednesday.
Tru Juice have lost their last two games and are in 10th place but just a point behind Falmouth United.
Lime Hall Academy are the only team yet to score a win and they will host a Hopewell United team that have lost their last three games in a row but have shown flashes in all their games played so far.
