Francesca Lake

Plus…

At the tail end of London Fashion Week (LFW), Jamaican designer Francesca Lake, secured her first official spot on the LFWeek schedule presenting a digital film — shot on The Rock — on Tuesday, September 17.

from londonfashionweek.co.uk:

“London-based designer Francesca Lake’s SS25 Collection, titled ‘Aristocrass’, is a celebration of the working class and notion of social mobility. Juxtaposing aristocracy and the labouring class centred on Jamaican heritage and socio-economic archetypes that tell a story of whimsy, nostalgia, bravado and economic coming of age.

The 18-look collection features both men’s and women’s ready-to-wear and closes with sculptural pieces indicative of the brand’s DNA and dramatic silhouettes, headpieces and detailing since the designer’s graduation from Central Saint Martin’s 2023.

A part of the digital presentation segment for LFW’s DISCOVERYLAB SS25 , this collection was shot in Kingston, Jamaica and directed by Fernando Hevia, on schedule for September 17, 2024 at 10:30 am telling the story of heritage and pride in a subdued yet theatrical manner that provides emotional fashion storytelling synonymous with Lake’s ethos.”

from Francesca Lake:

“So incredibly proud of my country right now. To have an all-Jamaican team (we adopted Fernando) come together and be able to represent for our culture and lived experience at such a high level on a global scale, where our story can be told outside of its incubator is such an immense accomplishment and I couldn’t be more grateful for the people that made it all happen.”
