October Inspiration: Pink
You’ve asked and we’ve answered! Welcome to your weekly column ‘Planning Your Happily Ever After’ with wedding consultant Shikima Hinds.
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and what better way to raise awareness than sharing a few pink wedding inspirations! Whether pink pops up in your wedding cake, the groom’s accessories, the bridesmaid’s dresses, or even the bridal gown, this light red hue can bring a sense of softness to your day and can also honour someone close to you.
From invitations and favours to bridesmaids dresses and décor, every aspect of your big day can showcase different shades of pink that represent strength and femininity for a great cause. Pink is one of the prettiest wedding colours and it is incredibly versatile. This colour works beautifully for any season, suits several different types of venues and can be partnered with other shades of the same colour for a trendy wedding style. You don’t have to be too feminine with the colour pink, if you’re drawn to neutral tones, a shade of pink like dusty rose, mixed with brown or even with champagne tones can set a truly romantic ambience. Another trendy way to incorporate the colour is to use an ombre effect.
Today we’re sharing pink wedding palette inspirations in honour of those who are battling breast cancer.
Add sparkle
A touch of glimmer never hurts! Rose gold will add a hint of sparkle or the metallic version of blush to your wedding theme! The rareness of this specific shade of gold makes the look of your special day unique.
Shades of pink
Pink on pink on pink! If you can’t choose just one favourite shade of pink to fit your day, go with a monochromatic look with varying hues of pink. You can choose to mix options like blush, fuschia, and cotton candy pink, but there are many more shades, like mauve, rose, salmon, or pearl, to consider when creating your pink-only colour palette. Your bridesmaids’ dresses is the perfect aspect of your wedding to pull off this look.
Flowers
We love the idea of a special pink flower in a bridal bouquet and other areas of the wedding. From “blushing brides” to the colours of love, pinks’ many shades make its presence known in several wedding theme floral décor.
Pink cocktails
Infuse pink in your beverages too, with a pink-inspired signature cocktail. Add cherries and berries or even cotton candy atop a glass of Champagne.
Pink attire
Brides can spruce up their attire with pink shoes, earrings, or embellishments on their wedding dress. Obviously, pink isn’t just for brides. A confident groom can rock a light pink linen jacket, a bow tie, or a pocket square. Your littlest attendants are the easiest to get in on the pink fun, too, by having them wear light pink dresses.
Pink table décor
Make mostly white décor pop with the addition of thoughtful pink accents. Pink napkins, linens and/ or flowers always do the trick at the reception. Coloured glasses being added to the tablescape is a new way of incorporating colour.
Pink dessert and confections table
Adding soft pink is an easy, inexpensive way to turn a plain wedding cake into a gilded confection. The topper made of fresh pink flowers is an elegant option.
You can also use an assortment of pink sweets for the dessert table like pillow mints, jelly beans, cupcakes, macaroons, and more. Apothecary jars and mini to-go bags so your guests can take home a sampling of each item is a nice touch .
