Jamaican-born athlete who switched to Turkiye 10 years ago says he would do it all over again

Jamaican-born Emre Zafer Barnes is encouraging his prospective new teammates on the Turkish track and field team to “stay grounded and focused on their long-term goals” as well as to “let your performances do the talking.” Barnes, the former Jamaica College and Jamaican representative, completed his switch of allegiance to Turkiye in 2015, the same time as another Jamaican-born runner, Jak Ali Harvey.
