Westmoreland women hailed on IWD
NEGRIL, Westmoreland — Near 100 women in several Westmoreland communities were pleasantly surprised with personalised bottles of wine donated by Sandals and Beaches Resorts in Negril on March 8 to mark International Women’s Day.
The annual initiative is geared at honouring women from all walks of life and expressing gratitude for their invaluable contribution to the society. This year, the Sandals and Beaches team ventured into generally neglected areas along the Negril to Savanna-la-Mar terrain.
Among the many highlights of the endeavour was a visit to the Women’s Centre of Jamaica Foundation’s Savanna-la-Mar outpost.
“Through this ongoing partnership [Sandals and Beaches Negril] have been providing tangible as well as emotional support for our ladies here at the centre,” a news release quotes centre Manager Melissa Boothe-Anderson. “We are very thankful today, on International Women’s Day, for the visit by the team.”
Salome Fairclough, a recipient of one of the tokens of appreciation, was moved beyond words by the gesture.
“This is truly wonderful,” she said. “I have never been acknowledged on Women’s Day before so I am extremely happy with this gift.”
