Samuels leaves Scotia Investments
Scotia Investments Jamaica Ltd (SIJL) has advised that Gregory Samuels, assistant vice-president for treasury and trading has resigned from SIJL effective January 1, 2017, to pursue other interests. Samuels worked in the role from November 2012.
He previously worked at FirstCaribbean International Bank for six years, starting as a business analyst and progressing to senior syndications manager in 2009, then to associate director of the Client Solutions Group in 2010 before moving on to SIJL.
Prior to his career in investment banking, Samuels worked as operations manager at the Shell Oil Company from 2003 to 2006.
Samuels is a chartered financial analyst and holds an MBA in Banking and Finance and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering, both from the University of the West Indies.
GRANDISON MOVES TO NESTLE
Garfene Grandison is now the public relations and digital media manager at Nestle Jamaica, having started on Monday.
Grandison told the Jamaica Observer that he decided to take the role as it promised a greater challenge and greater opportunity for growth – particularly in the area of digital media.
That part of the role will entail him increasing the company’s social media presence and increasing the company’s following on its website and micro sites.
Grandison was previously the assistant manager for corporate social Garfene Grandison Gregory Samuels responsibility at Sagicor from December 2015.
Prior to that, he was sponsorship and public relations executive at FLOW for a year, having started at the company in 2014 as public relations executive.
Grandison started his public relations career as the public relations executive for Miss Jamaica World from 2011 to 2012.
He also worked in print media as a reporter for several years, including three years at the Jamaica Observer as a lifestyle reporter from 2007 to 2010.
Grandison holds a BA in Liberal Arts and Sciences from the University of the West Indies, Mona.
WILSON RETURNS TO JN
Judith Wilson has returned to the Jamaica National Group to work in the role of marketing manager at JN Fund Managers Limited. The role is a progression from her career in communications.
Wilson was most recently brand and public relations management officer in the Group Marketing and Communications Unit at NCB, from October 2015 to earlier this year.
She started her career at NCB as corporate relations and events specialist at Advantage General Insurance Company Limited — a member of the NCB group — in 2008, moving on to become the senior marketing officer in 2013.
Prior to that, Wilson worked as group corporate communications manager at Sandals Resorts International from 2007 to 2008.
Wilson first worked at Jamaica National as a corporate communications assistant from 2002 to 2007, based at the head office in Half-Way Tree.
She started her career as a reporter for the Jamaica Information Service from 1996 to 2002.
Wilson holds a diploma and an Executive MBA in Business Administration, both from the University College of the Caribbean.
