G Blunt to release debut mix tape
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Deejay G Blunt’s debut mix tape, Tri-State Thugs, is scheduled for release on July 4 by the Stone Love label.
He said the title was inspired by global hostility in urban communities.
“The music I wrote was inspired by crimes in different communities across the globe. I have friends in the US and across Jamaica. Sometimes in conversations about incidents that happen to friends, I look at life in real way… things do happen not by choice but people do get caught up at times and we can only learn from someone else’s mistakes.”
The 18-song project has songs such as Kingston City, Our Place and Amazing Song. The latter is produced by Dean Fraser.
G Blunt, whose given name is Collin Clarke, is from Vineyard Town, in east Kingston.
A St George’s College past student, his first song Inna The Club was released in 2006. Since then, G Blunt has done a number of songs, several of them collaborations including Make Love To Me (with Cherine Anderson) and Hot A Road alongside singjay Future Fambo.
In addition to Tri-State Thugs, G Blunt is preparing to promote Stop Playing, a song he did with superstar rapper 50 Cent.
