Letters to the Editor
Name it the Usain Bolt Stadium
Monday, August 20, 2012
Dear Editor,
Which sport offers the greatest scope for international accomplishment and involvement for Jamaicans today – cricket or track and field? If, as I suspect, the answer is track and field, I wish to make the following proposal: Remodel the Trelawny Multi-Purpose Stadium by knocking out the front sets of seats to accommodate the most up-to-date “mundo” track and field events stadium and then rename it the “Usain Bolt Stadium”.
It could then become the venue for international meets equivalent to events on the European circuit, and I can see all those international athletes rushing to Trelawny to find out if the secret of our success is really in the yam, dasheen and cassava.
