Woman charged for smuggling drugs into prison

A woman was yesterday arrested and charged after police found ganja in a slipper she took for a prisoner during visiting hours at the Gun Court Remand Centre.

Reports are that about 2:30 pm, 21-year-old Carla Scarlette of Winward Road, Kingston 2 attended the Gun Court Remand Centre to visit a prisoner. During a routine search the ganja was found hidden in the sole of a slipper.

She was subsequently arrested and charged for breaching the Corrections Act and for illegal possession of ganja.
