Fat vs beautiful
Is it possible to be both fat and beautiful? Or are those two entirely mutually exclusive?
Lately there’s been a lot of talk surrounding these two things and fuller figured men and women alike have been expressing disappointment and anger regarding how they are viewed.
A common scenario is a chubby person commenting factually on their own size and a friend or relative rushing to assure them, “No, you’re beautiful.”
Let’s be honest, there are negative connotations associated with the word ‘fat’, and if you haven’t noticed up until this point I have refrained from even using the word – instead opting to use gentler euphemisms – as though the word itself is a taboo swear word.
But that’s just how a lot of us were raised; when someone calls someone else fat or someone even calls them self fat, it’s often automatically taken in the most negative of ways. As a result many people don’t just hear ‘I’m fat’ without thinking of somehow being unattractive or awfully unhealthy or something of the like.
This is why some will then rush to the rescue of someone they think is suffering from a self esteem break or low point by following up, ‘I’m fat’ with, ‘No, you’re beautiful’.
But being fat doesn’t mean you’re not beautiful and being beautiful doesn’t mean you can’t be fat.
And moreover ‘fat’ isn’t even an innately bad word; it’s actually just another normal word we’ve perverted and sharpened in preparation for it being hurtful.
