Smart Watches
Smartphones are currently the undisputed king of the tech world but in recent years the focus has shifted from what is in the user’s hand to what is on their body. These devices are called ‘wearables’ and they work by syncing with the phone to offer services such as call accepting, music playback and map features without the user being required to touch their smartphone. The most popular devices in the ‘wearables’ category are smart watches, and the vast options on the consumer market may soon be overwhelming. Here is a list of some of the devices that are leading the charge of the tech world’s ‘new big thing’:
Apple Watch
The most recent addition to the smart watch line-up, the Apple Watch’s most notable feature is the knob on the side of the device which is used for navigation through the honeycomb-like interface. Another feature is that device notifications pop-up in a manner which can be activated on the phone automatically if needs be. The watch is available in a wide variety of designs and straps.
Moto 360
The Moto 360 is unique in the smart watch market because it uses a round display instead of the traditional rectangular or square design. Motorola also made the watch highly customizable, allowing for even the face to be customized. This device is currently touted as the best device on the market due to its easy-to-use interface and wireless charging capabilities.
Pebble Watch
The beginning of Pebble Watch is interesting because it was not made by a tech giant like the other watches on this list. As a matter of fact, it came into development through “crowd-funding” or a mass contribution. The watch did not lack in quality and was made available in steel and rubber bands of a wide variety, with extended battery life. Impressively, the watch is also compatible with both Android and iOS devices. The major issue that users had was the lack of colour in the screen, although this will be addressed in the second iteration, the Pebble Time.
