Ocho Rios win Sandals resort football

SANDALS Ocho Rios defeated Beaches Inn 1-0 at Blue Diamond to win the Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart championship trophy earlier this month.

After ending in a goalless draw against Sandals Montego Bay in their previous match, the Ocho Rios team went one better. Kirk Boswell of the food and beverage department scored the match-winner against Beaches Inn.

Boswell received the most valuable player and top goalscorer trophies for Ocho Rios, after scoring a total of five goals. The second-place finishers, Beaches Inn, walked away with the Merrick Fray trophy, and were named the most disciplined team for which received the Leo Lambert trophy.

The Sandals inter-resort football six-a-side competition was organised to foster greater camaraderie within the Sandals group.
