ENTERTAINMENT OUT WEST

Hotty Hotty 2001 at Pier One tonight

Pier One in Montego Bay is expected to be hot tonight as several young women from across the island try to out dance each other in an effort to capture the ‘Miss Hotty Hotty 2001’ title and take home $100,000 in cash.

But apart from this greatly anticipated dance contest in which some of the latest dancehall fashions will be on show, a number of other entertainers will grace the stage. These include dancehall deejay Lexxus, Cecile, Frisco Kid, Silva Kid, Buss De Place Crew and John Gotti.

Music will be provided by Adonai, INXS and Pieces.

Applications for Miss Jamaica World Cornwall close today

Applications for the Miss Jamaica World Cornwall Beauty Pageant close today at 3:30 pm at the Blue Diamond Shopping Centre in Ironshore.

So far the franchise holder for this year’s contest, Lachu Ramchandani, has had applications from 40 beautiful young girls but said he would like to have at least another 10, before the pre-judging next Saturday.

The elimination show is set for the Caribbean Showplace on June 3, while the grand coronation will be held at the same venue on July 1.

Labour Day fun day, stage show at Caribbean Beach Park

The recently opened Caribbean Beach Park comes alive next Wednesday when Deon Promotions presents a family fun day and a big stage show featuring a number of artistes who ruled the music circuit during the 1980s.

The stage show, which gets underway at 10:00 pm, features the likes of the versatile ‘Big Belly Man’ Admiral Bailey, the controversial Ninja Man, Red Dragon, Flourgon, Courtney Melody, Grindsman, Daddy Lizard and Leroy Gibbons. They will be backed by the Venom band.

According to Junior Taylor, entertainment manager at the Caribbean Beach Park, activities at the fun day begin at 10:00 am. Activities will include wet T-shirt contest, domino tournament, six- a-side football, bounce-a-bout and donkey rides.

Rumble at Ramble Speedway

Motor racing enthusiasts are in for a treat next Wednesday, when the Northwestern Motor Car Racing Association presents its second racing meet of the season at the Ramble Speedway in Hanover.

Dubbed “The Rumble at Ramble”, the meet gets underway at 8:00 am and will feature some of Montego Bay’s best drivers, including Doug Gore, Andrew Forsythe, Strathon King, Richard Chang, Richard Rerrie and Andre Weatherly.

Full day of fun at Mayfield Falls Arawak Village

In an effort to make Jamaicans more culturally aware, Sarah Willis, owner of the beautiful Mayfield Falls which is nestled near Cascade in Hanover has decided to stage a fun-filled day of cultural activities once per week, beginning next Wednesday.
