Man’s body found with stab wounds
The body of a 31 year-old man, identified as that of Horace Smith of Garlant Avenue, Kingston 19, was found with stab wounds on Mannings Hill Road, Kingston 8, Thursday night.
The Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) reported that at about 8:45 pm, residents of the area discovered the body on the bank of a gully on Mannings Hill Road and notified the police.
It had multiple stab wounds to the chest and back and was removed to the morgue for post-mortem examination.
Teen on gun rap
Nineteen-year-old Nino Woozencraft of Seaview Heights, Flankers, St James was on Thursday arrested and charged for possession of an offensive weapon and illegal possession of a firearm in Montego Bay, St James.
The CCN said that at about 6:15 pm, members of a foot patrol were on St James Street, in the vicinity of the Shell Service Station, where Woozencraft and a man were involved in a dispute. Knives were reportedly drawn and on the approach of the patrol the man ran and escaped. Woozencraft was subsequently held and searched and a home-made handgun and a knife taken from him. He was consequently charged.
…Also a 35 year-old man
Terrence Lewis, 35, was arrested for breaching the Firearms and Dangerous Drugs Acts in Westmoreland Thursday night.
Lewis, of Dalling Street in Savanna-la-Mar, has been charged with illegal possession of a firearm and possession of and dealing in ganja.
According to the CCN, at about 11:00 pm, a police operation was carried out at the Savanna-la-Mar market. During the operation, Lewin’s grocery shop was searched and a .38 Smith and Wesson revolver serial # AZA4426 and 500 grams (1lb) of ganja were found. He was subsequently arrested and charged.
Man found dead on Beckford Street
A man was found dead on Beckford Street in downtown Kingston yesterday morning. He has not been identified.
According to the CCN, at about 5:10 am, a passer-by saw the body and alerted the police. The man, believed to be in the mid-30s, was seen with the head bashed in and abrasions on the legs.
He is of dark complexion, slim build and is clad in a black pants.
