MoBay woman shot dead on veranda
WESTERN BUREAU — A 30 year-old Montego Bay woman, who is said to be mentally challenged, was murdered as she slept on her veranda in the city late Monday night.
The deceased woman is Yvonne Wauchope of 12 1/2 Upper King Street and her killing brings to 35 the number of murders committed in St James since the start of the year.
Constabulary Communication Network liaison officer for the parish, Constable Camille Tracey, said Wauchope was shot in the chest while asleep in a chair on her veranda.
Her mother, who heard the gunshots went to investigate, saw her bleeding from the wound to the chest.
Wauchope was later taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
