Hipsters II at The Brewry tonight
The Brewery on Montego Bay’s Hip Strip will tonight present another in its series of hipsters parties.
Assistant manager at the entertainment complex, Colin Scarlett, told EOW that the first hipsters party staged at The Brewery earlier this year was a huge success and tonight’s event should be no different.
The fun starts at 10:00 pm and will feature the “Party Animal”, Kurt Riley of Fame FM.
Gospel on the Beach
Gospel takes centrestage at the Caribbean Beach Park in Ironshore tomorrow night when Caribbean Showplace in association with Gooden’s Gospel Ministries present Gospel on the Beach 2002.
The show features evangelist Tramaine Hawkins, Robert and Jenieve Bailey, Papa San, Stitchie, Junior Tucker, Shelly Thunder and Sandra Brooks.
Gates open at 4:00 pm and showtime is set for 6:00 pm.
Independence beach party
Family Links Inc presents a day and night beach party at the popular Burwood Beach in Trelawny tomorrow.
A host of artistes will be on hand to entertain patrons.
Chief among them are Warrior King, Rickey General, Daddy Vic, History Man, Culture P, Mega Banton and Dugsy Ranks.
Music will be provided by Swatch International and Pure Players. Emcees for the event will be Ron Muschette of IRIE FM and Cat Paw.
The fun starts at 10:00 am.
Memories at Sundaze
Sundaze, formally Walter’s Bar and Grill on Gloucester Avenue, presents “Memories” tomorrow night, starting at 9:00 pm.
The show features Soul Faith out of Montego Bay, alongside Star Lord from Manchester.
The event promises to be very entertaining, as the selectors from both sound systems are known for their good taste in old hits.
Independence celebrations
A number of activities are being planned across western Jamaica in commemoration of Jamaica’s 40th anniversary as an independent country.
Today, there will be street dances in Duncans and Falmouth, while a gospel concert will be held at the Kettering Baptist Church in Duncans on Sunday.
A play entitled Fi wi life will be staged at the Falmouth Town Hall on Monday starting at 6:00 pm, while concerts and street dances will be held in the communities of Albert Town and Clarke’s Town.
On Independence Day a civic ceremony will be held in Water Square, Falmouth at which time World Junior Games 200m champion, Usain Bolt, will be presented with a plaque for his outstanding performance at the recently concluded games.
Over in St James, a number of activities are also planned. These include a reggae road march on Independence Day and float parades depicting the life and times of the country’s seven national heroes.
Hanover and Westmoreland have also planned a number of activities to mark ‘Jamaica 40’.
Fun day at Countryside Villa
Residents in and around Burntground, Hanover are in for a treat on Tuesday when the management of Countryside Villa presents a grand fun day there.
Activities begin at 9:00 am and will include dominoes, football, cricket and netball.
Music will be provided by 027 Disco.
