Two double murders in MoBay
WESTERN BUREAU – Janice Baker, 24, and Courtney Peterkin, alias “Dragon”, 33, were yesterday morning shot and killed during a party at the Urban Development Corporation (UDC) beach, popularly known as Dump Up Beach, in Montego Bay, St James.
Baker resided at First Street in Farm Heights, and Peterkin at Birch Hill, Green Pond, both in Montego Bay.
The shooting of the two was the second double murder in Montego Bay over the weekend, following Friday night’s shooting death of two brothers – 38-year old shoe vendor Medley Williams, otherwise called “Shook”, and 34 year-old jerk chicken vendor Sweeny Taylor, alias “Clint”, both of Meghie Top, Salt Spring, Montego Bay.
Baker and Peterkin were shot about 1:40 yesterday morning while partying at the Dump Up Beach along the Howard Cooke Boulevard. They were taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where doctors pronounced them dead.
Meanwhile, the two brothers were shot dead about 9:30 Friday night. Williams’ body was found in front of his house with several gunshot wounds, while his brother’s body was found in nearby bushes.
The police believe that Taylor was chased from his jerk shop, situated in front of the house, and shot. He was found in bushes suffering from gunshot wounds. Both men were taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where they were pronounced dead.
One man has since been taken into the custody of the Mount Salem police, who are conducting investigations.
