Infant involved in Trelawny crash dies
WESTERN BUREAU – The infant who was airlifted to Kingston for the treatment of head injuries suffered in Saturday’s motor vehicle accident in Trelawny, involving a Toyota Corolla and a Toyota Levin, has died.
The child, Ronaldo Tomlinson, three, died on Tuesday at the Bustamante Children’s Hospital, a spokesperson for the Constabulary Communication Network said yesterday.
Ronaldo’s mother, Faithlyn Edwards, 40, was pronounced dead at the Falmouth Hospital where she was taken shortly after the accident. She had received injuries to the head and chest.
Ronaldo’s sister, Peta-Gaye Richards, nine, who was also hospitalised following the accident, was still a patient at the Falmouth Public Hospital up to Tuesday.
Also injured in the crash were:
. Kerry Ann Nesbeth, 18, daughter and sister of the two deceased.
. Eustace Malcolm, 30, the children’s uncle;
. Austin Jones, 49, the driver of the Levin; and his wife
. Sonia Jones, 55.
Malcolm received chest injuries while Nesbeth received chest and left leg injuries. Austin Jones received wounds to his head, chest and right foot, while his wife received injuries to her chest.
Meanwhile, Courtney Lysaith, a resident of Hague in Trelawny, who was driving the Toyota Corolla motor car in which Edwards and little Ronaldo were passengers, was Tuesday warned by the police that he could be charged with manslaughter.
The Corolla that was being driven by Lysaith collided with a Toyota Levin motor car along the Cooper’s Pen main road in Trelawny late Saturday afternoon.
The driver of the Corolla, according to the police, allegedly swerved to the right side of the road and collided with the Levin that was travelling in the opposite direction.
