Man stabbed to death at Portmore Mall

DERRON KING, 21, was attacked and stabbed to death by a man armed with a knife at the Portmore Mall in St Catherine on Thursday.

King resided at Tover Avenue, Cumberland in Portmore.

The police said King and a female companion were at the Portmore Mall at about 9:00 pm when a man armed with a knife approached them. King was stabbed several times. He was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.

Woman shot dead in Twickenham Park

BEVERLY Richards, a 39 year-old shopkeeper, was shot dead by gunmen at New Nursery, Twickenham Park, St Catherine Thursday night.

According to the police, at about 6:45 pm Thursday Richards was at her shop when two gunmen entered the premises. The men immediately opened fire hitting her several times. She was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Firearms seized; man arrested

A 33 year-old man was arrested for breaches of the Firearms Act following the injuring of a 23 year-old man during a dispute at a shop at Fiona Crescent, Spanish Town, St Catherine yesterday afternoon.

Charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition, and shooting with intent is Errol Stephenson of Fiona Crescent.

The police reported that at about 12:45 pm, both men were involved in a dispute at Stephenson’s grocery shop. During the argument a handgun was used to shoot the 23 year-old man. He was taken to hospital where he was treated and released.

Following investigations by the Spanish Town Police, premises at Evelyn Crescent in the town was searched and a .25 semi-automatic pistol, serial #1530380, with two rounds, was found. Stephenson was subsequently arrested and charged.
