Man dragged from house and shot; body found in open lot
THE body of a 22 year-old man who was taken from his house at St Joseph Road, Kingston 11 and shot by gunmen Thursday morning, was found in an open lot at Brotherton Avenue in Kingston 11.
Another man who was also allegedly taken from his home at Crescent Road in the area and shot has not yet been found.
Dead is Michael Sinclair, otherwise called “Badda Who” and “Dwayne”, while missing is a man known only as “Tattoo Man”.
The police said that at about 5:00 am, Sinclair was at his home when four men barged in, took him in the yard and shot him. They then left with his Nissan Sunny motor car. His body was later found about 5:30 in the afternoon in an open lot at Brotherton Avenue.
The Constabualry Communication Network (CCN) said the police lated spotted a Nissan Sunny motor car, fitting the description with four men aboard in the area. The driver was signalled to stop but instead sped off and during a subsequent chase the vehicle was abandoned by the men in the community.
Investigators from the St Andrew South Homicide Unit say that the gunmen had earlier gone to “Tattoo Man’s” house where they shot him and left with his Nissan Sunny motor car.
“Efforts are now being made to locate him and two men known as Dutty Roy and Kemar who they believe can assist them in their investigations,” the CCN said.
Security guard on gun charge
A security guard employed to Atlas Protection Company was Thursday charged by the Morant Bay police following Sunday’s shooting incident at the Goodyear Oval Springfield, St Thomas, that left a 31 year-old man injured.
The guard, Omar Lawrence, 31, has been charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition and shooting with intent.
The CCn said that at about 5:45 am on Sunday, the man reported that he and other persons were standing on a barrier at a stage show when they were asked to remove by the security guard. The man, the police said, was then shot in the back by the guard.
However, Lawrence reported that the man had attacked him with a knife after being told to get off the barrier. He also told the police that in a bid to escape his attacker, he tripped and the firearm was discharged.
Counterfeit notes
The Kingston Central police have asked members of the public to be on the lookout for counterfeit $1000 and $500 notes that are being circulated in downtown Kingston.
The $1000 notes, bearing serial #FQ230277, and the $500 notes, with serial numbers SZ752256 and FZ591327, have several of the security features missing, the police said.
Man charged with bribery
A 28 year-old man who allegedly attempted to bribe a member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force was arrested and charged for bribing a Constable at the Half-Way-Tree Police Station on Tuesday this week.
According to the CCN’s Metro Officer about 5:00 am the man offered to pay $150,000.00 to a Police Officer to release him from custody, however the lawman slapped him with bribery charges.
The man was earlier taken into custody from the East Kingston area for shooting with intent. He is also a suspect in a case of murder. He is scheduled to face an identification parade next week.
The Half-Way Tree Police are investigating.
