Two men shot, one fatally in Grants Pen
TWO men were shot, one fatally, by gunmen on Grants Pen Avenue, Kingston 8 Saturday night.
Howard Foster, 32, died in the gun attack, while injured was another 32 year-old man, both of Grants Pen Avenue.
According to the police, at about 10:50 pm the two were among a group of men on Grants Pen Avenue when three armed men approached them and immediately opened fire, hitting Foster and the other man. Foster died on the spot, while the other man was admitted to hospital in stable condition.
Man’s body found on Dyke Road
THE body of a man known only as ‘Shawn Shooter’ of ‘Lesser Portmore’ in St Catherine was found with gunshot wounds on Dyke Road in the parish on Saturday.
The body is of dark complexion, slim build, about 168 centimetres (5ft 6ins.) tall and was clad in a blue and white T-shirt, black jeans pants and a pair of blue and black sneakers.
The Catherine police reported that at about 5:15 pm, a motorist saw the body lying on the road and called the police. Investigators who went to the scene saw the body with multiple gunshot wounds beside a green bicycle. It was removed to the morgue for post mortem.
Gunman fatally shot in attempted robbery
AN 18 year-old gunman was fatally shot yesterday morning by a licensed firearm holder during a foiled robbery at St James Street, Montego Bay, St James.
He was identified as Jermaine Simpson, alias “Solo” of Albion Lane, St James, and Race Course, Trelawny.
The police said that at about 12:05 am, Simpson and two accomplices went to a bar on St James Street, where they held up patrons at gunpoint and demanded money. A licensed firearm holder who was at the venue reportedly challenged the gunmen and during an ensuing exchange of gunfire the gunmen ran from the bar. Simpson was later found outside suffering from gunshot wounds. A Bryco 9mm semi-automatic pistol, serial #1277057, and four .38 rounds of ammunition were found in his possession, the police reported.
Policeman shot and injured in Kingston
A police constable from the Special Anti Crime Task Force was shot and injured in the Kingston 10 area last night.
The Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) reported that at about 9:15 pm a woman was held up at gunpoint by two men on Nonsdale Avenue.
“She made an alarm and the Constable who was in the area went to investigate. On the approach of the lawman, the gunmen ran towards the intersection of Molynes Road and Chalmers Avenue. The policeman gave chase and during an exchange of gunfire he was shot,” said the CCN.
A motorist assisted the policeman to hospital where the cop was admitted in stable condition.
Ganja seized in Comma Pen
GANJA weighing approximately 68.18 kilograms (150 1bs) was seized during a police operation at Comma Pen District in St Elizabeth late Friday afternoon.
No one was arrested in connection with the seizure.
