Antoinette Haughton walks off talkshow
THE CVM Communications Group announced Tuesday that Antoinette Haughton-Cardenas, the fiery host of its mid-morning radio talkshow Disclosure, was temporarily off the air, claiming she made statements that flouted editorial policy.
Haughton-Cardenas, an attorney at law and one-time politician, walked off the show while on air on Hot 102 FM yesterday.
“Mrs Haughton-Cardenas comments at the start of the programme this morning resulted in the management reminding her of the editorial policy of the group and her responsibility as a programme host,” said the media company in a statement.
CVM vice president Jennifer Grant later refused to comment further on the issue stating that the station, acting on legal advice, would stick to the statement issued.
Chief executive David McBean was said to be travelling.
The statement said Haughton-Cardenas refused to comply and that discussions broke down.
Attempts at comment from Haughton-Cardenas were also unsuccessful. Her office said only that she was out when the Observer attempted contact.
“Hot 102 does not support individual agenda’s or special interest groups, and in the very best interest of our listeners, must ensure that transparency and professionalism remains the hallmark of the station,” said the CVM group.
