What’s Cooking On The Social Page
The much anticipated 77th staging of the Oscar Awards took place Sunday last. Hollywood returned to its glorious glamour years with the established, the starlets and the just plain fabulous stepping onto the red carpet. Here in Jamaica, Strawberry Hill in Irish Town was once again the place to place bets and applaud gustily the nominees and eventual winners.
The pace in the kitchen might not have been as frenetic as inside that of famed chef Wolfgang Puck, but rest assured that the final taste was just as good.
So just what did guests at Strawberry Hill enjoy?
The menu was as comforting as the setting and comprised: seafood pasta, roast leg of lamb, an excellent Jamaican paella with heaps of janga, lobster and chicken).
There was a live pasta station, duck-filled spring rolls, conch fritters and lots of shrimp.
Sweet plates were in abundance with the sour sop trifle winning rave reviews.
The Roti Festival
Bollywood might not have scored big in Hollywood but the roti festival held on the grounds of Club India was where patrons just could not get enough of made-to-order roti, curried goat, curried aloo, curried choka, curried mango and dhal. It would be fair to conclude that a good time was had by all.
