Greenwich Town man shot dead
TWENTY-EIGHT year old Errol Lodge, otherwise called “Bee Bop”, of 7th Street, Greenwich Town, Kingston 13, was shot and killed by unknown assailant/s at his gate Thursday night.
The Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) reported that Lodge was in his house when he was called outside at about 7:45. He was shot when he went to the gate.
Cop robbed of firearm
THE Moneague police have launched a search for three men who robbed a policeman of his service revolver on the Roadside main road in St Ann last night.
The CCN’s St Ann liaison officer reported that at about 9:15 pm a police sergeant was travelling along the Roadside main road in his private motor car when he made a stop.
Three men, the police said, then drove up in a burgundy Honda Prelude motor car, registered 8959 DY, and asked if the cop needed any assistance. “They were conversing when the men held onto the policeman and wrested his firearm from him before driving away in the Honda Prelude,” said the CCN.
Two charged with murder of MoBay mechanic
THE police on Thursday night arrested two men who allegedly killed a 33 year-old mechanic, Valentine Stephenson, and injured his 9 year-old daughter at their home in Branch Hall, Rose Heights, St James.
A firearm was seized by the police.
The men – Lloyd Forrester, 24, of Commission Road, and Ricardo Gayle, 19, of Rusden Road, both in Kingston 2 – have been charged with murder and shooting with intent.
The police said Stephenson was at home with his common-law wife and two daughters when gunmen kicked open his front door. Shots were fired by the intruders, hitting Stephenson and one of his daughters. They were taken to hospital where Stephenson was pronounced dead and his daughter admitted in stable condition.
“The police were alerted and an all-points bulletin issued over the police radio network. Shortly after, a Toyota Corolla motor car was stopped and searched on a roadway in the Rose Heights community. The search yielded a 9 mm pistol, believed to have been used in the killing of Mr Stephenson, along with 5 rounds of ammunition,” said a CCN report.
Forrester and Gayle, who were in the vehicle, were subsequently arrested and charged.
Cops seek ex-boyfriend of slain student
DETECTIVES from the St Catherine South Homicide Unit were yesterday searching for a man who fatally stabbed a female student of the Jose Marti High School, and injured a male student on Thursday.
The man, the police said, is believed to be the ex-boyfriend of the dead student, Yanice Hall, 17, of Waterhouse in Kingston 11.
According to the police, at about 2:35 pm Thursday, Hall and the male student boarded a bus at the school gate. Shortly after, a young man entered the bus and demanded the return of a cell phone from Hall. An argument developed and a knife was used to stab both students. They were taken to hospital where Hall died while undergoing treatment, and the other treated.
Two men shot dead in Spanish Town
TWO men were shot and killed in separate incidents on March Pen Road, Spanish Town, St Catherine Thursday.
They have been identified as James Hall, 64, otherwise called “Rachie” and a man identified only as “Smokey”, both of March Pen Road.
The CCN said that Hall was on his way home at about 6:00 pm when he was attacked and shot several times. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
In the other incident, which took place about 30 minutes later, police who were on patrol responded to explosions in the area and found the body of “Smokey” with gunshot wounds on a roadway in the community.
Double murder in Nannyville
THE St Andrew Central Homicide Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the murder of two men in Nannyville, Kingston 3 Thursday evening.
They have been identified as Wayne Goodlet, otherwise known as “Evil Man”, a 33 year-old carpenter of Adou Path and Richard Evans, 21, of Stony Path, both of Nannyville.
