Bon Appetit food editor Kristine Kidd is in Jamaica on a taste tour. “I’m here to experience the cuisine in the hope of returning to cover the island extensively,” she shared with Foodie News Monday last while picking up Twyman coffee at Rum, Roast & Royal. This is Kidd’s first visit to Jamaica and she has so far enjoyed fish at Gloria’s, Sunday brunch surrounded by art at the Contemporary Art Gallery, breakfast at the Terra Nova All Suites and Devon House ice-cream.
Her Kingston visit continues with dinner at Norma’s on the Terrace before heading to Port Antonio via the Gap Café where she’ll do lunch.
Stops are expected at Café Aubergine in Moneague and at Royal Plantation. Kidd’s trip ends at Strawberry Hill.
When asked why Jamaica? Kidd’s response was immediate. “We find the island intriguing. Jamaica had the most interesting of the food cultures in the Caribbean.”
