Man accused of Devon House murder remanded
A man accused of murdering a woman on the grounds of Devon House in Kingston was remanded in custody when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
Garfield Grant, 24, is accused of killing Natoya Johnson in December last year. Johnson’s body, with its throat cut, was found by a security guard who was patrolling the grounds of the facility.
Johnson had left her home at about 6:00 on the evening of December 27 to meet with a female friend.
Grant told the police that he had killed Johnson because she had stolen his girlfriend and he had witnessed them engaging in lesbian acts.
Grant, who has been in custody since early January, was remanded in custody until April 8 when his case will next be mentioned.
