Placido Domingo to sing in opera premiere
NEW YORK (AP) – Placido Domingo will sing in the North American premiere of the Mariinsky Theatre’s production of Wagner’s Ring Cycle in October 2006, during the opening celebration of Segerstrom Concert Hall at the Orange County Performing Arts Centre in Costa Mesa, California.
Domingo will sing Siegmund in Die Walkuere, the second opera of the four-opera Ring Cycle. The Ring will be performed October 6, October 7, October 9 and October 11, the Performing Arts Centre said Monday.
Domingo also will perform a song cycle by William Bolcom, with text based on works by Federico Garcia Lorca, at the opening concert on September 15, 2006.
