Sleepy fisherman drowns at sea
LIONEL TOWN, Clarendon – The Lionel Town Police are treating the death of fisherman Lyndel Reid, 34, as a case of drowning, after his body was found Friday at Jackson Bay Beach.
Reid and another man, Devon Stewart, 44, had set out to sea in a canoe Thursday at about 4:30 pm, on a fishing expedition.
The police report that while at sea, both men fell asleep, which later caused the boat to capsize. They attempted to swim back to shore.
Stewart, who made it back, reported the incident to the local police, who organised a search party for Reid.
The fisherman was found about 10:00 am in Jackson Bay, some distance from where he had set out to sea.
His body was removed to a government-assigned morgue in May Pen for an autopsy.
