Cadet corps need 200 volunteers as officers
THE Jamaica Combined Cadet Force (JCCF) is seeking to recruit 200 volunteers to fill positions in the Officer Corps across the island.
According to the force’s training officer Lt Col Trevor McCurdy, there is an overwhelming demand from schools to establish cadet units to enhance discipline among their student populations.
“We need more volunteers to be able to set up the requisite number of units… at the same time existing Officers are carrying more than the acceptable level of work load,” said McCurdy, quoted in a release.
The training officer urged persons with good standing in their community, who possess leadership abilities, a clean Police record and three GCE or CXC passes required of candidates in the adult ranks, or five subjects for officer candidates, to join the JCCF “in order to enrich the lives of young Jamaicans.”
