Cops seek husband of acid victim
MICHAEL Anthony Laoe, the husband of the woman who was doused with acid outside the Constant Spring tax office last Friday, was yesterday being sought by the police to assist in the investigation of the incident.
“Investigators believe that Mr Laoe can assist them in their inquiries into the acid attack on his wife, an employee of the Constant Spring Inland Revenue Department,” the Constabulary Communication Network said in a statement.
The police said Laoe, a 40-year-old battery technician, resided at 160 Spanish Town Road, Kingston 11.
Persons knowing the whereabouts of Laoe, were asked to call the Constant Spring Police at 925-1421, Operation Kingfish at 811, 119, or Crime Stop at 1-888-991-4000.
The woman, whose name has not been released, was doused with a pail of acid seconds after she disembarked from a bus on Constant spring Road and was heading into the tax collectorate building where she worked.
She was up to yesterday in hospital where she was being treated for severe burns to over 40 per cent of her body.
A man who threw the corrosive substance on the woman was beaten to death by an angry mob minutes after the attack last Friday morning.
The acid attack melted the woman’s clothes and parts of her flesh.
